Sorry I took a while to respond; I've been struggling with getting some sleep tonight. Anyway, on to the real reason I'm here. Figured I'd respond to you here on your wiki since you'd have an easier time seeing it. I have to admit I'm not the best at writing code from scratch, so all the coding and templates you saw on my wiki were borrowed from other wikis and modified to fit the kind of pages I wanted to make.
I'm not sure if I'd be all too good at coaching you through editing templates and such on your own, although I would still give it a try. After all, most of my experience came from hands-on experimentation to see what works and what doesn't, and it wasn't exactly fun for me either. lol
That aside, my best tip is definitely to borrow templates and edit them until they fit the information you want to display on your pages. If necessary, I'll let you borrow the templates I'm using on my wiki too. And if you'd prefer, I can try and see if I can create and/or hammer out the details for any templates you'd wish to have, or ones you may be struggling on.
And finally, no need to worry about asking me for too much. It doesn't seem like a lot to me, and even if it was, I've had plenty of moments in my life where people have asked a lot of me, so I'm used to it by now. :)
You're welcome! I'm just happy to be helping someone in need. Now with all being said, I'm not quite sure what you'd prefer to do first; if you'd rather have me make the templates on your wiki and let you edit them here and there afterward, or if you'd like me to explain it for you so you could do it on your own. Either way's fine with me, but I'd rather know what you're most comfortable with before I start.
If you could make the templates that would be highly helpful and we can go from there. Also feel free to colaberate with me when I`m online. Feel free to do anything you want to do on this wiki. Also links to other wiki`s I`ve contributed to, are going to be added soon. If there is a problem on the wiki, feel free to fix it. I`m not going to be on this wiki for a while as I have to deal with writing up on several unfinished articles on the Fairy Tail Fanon Wiki.
Alright then, thanks for your input; I'll be sure to get to work ASAP. And thanks for the kind offer too! The feeling's mutual as far as my Dragon Shrine Wiki is concerned, including touching up any errors I may have left behind by mistake. Sadly, I'm not sure if I have much in the way of collaborations over there though, so I doubt I'd be able to offer the same invitation until I get something started. >.>
Thanks for the warm welcome. I hope to do a good job at supporting your wiki however I can. :)
I can understand if you're busy; I've also had a history of being active on multiple different wikis, to the point where I spread myself a little too thin. So I won't expect you to be here the entire time, as I understand you may have bigger priorities.
However, I should also point out that as I do some digging around and looking into what you need as far as templates go, I realized I'm not too certain what to do regarding certain templates. Firstly, I'm unsure what to do about the switch template, as I see you have the basic setup already in place, and I'm not sure what you're looking for as far as a switch goes. Like, if it says something in particular, like "anime - manga," "pre timeskip - post timeskip" or what have you. And when you listed switches 2 and 3, were you mentioning the switch templates on Dragon Shrine, or were you requesting 2 or 3 switches?
As for the colored quotation template, like the switch template, I see you have a quote template already in place, so I'm not sure if I need to make a quote template or not. Even if I still need to make one, I'm still looking into how to make it color customizable, as the quotation template I've always used never had that feature. So more or less I'm going back to square one and am figuring things out as I go along. Though I have a guess as to where I can get a functioning colored quote template. Though again, that depends on if you still need one by this point or not, as I can't tell if you have it covered or not.
Same goes for the character infobox template. I see you one available already for your characters, so I can't seem to figure out if you still need a character template or not anymore.
That leaves me with weapon and story templates, which I'm looking into as we speak. The weapon template is tricky for me, as I'm not sure what coding I should copy and paste, seeing as I'm keeping your personal preferences and taste in mind. I know I should probably avoid a blatantly One Piece weapon template, as it contains details that may not be to your liking (such as the type or grade of weapon.) Then again, I'm probably getting ahead of myself, as I can always go back and do some heavy editing to change said details into something more preferrable, so I guess I could cross that bridge when I come to it.
Thank you as well; every bit of information goes a long way to helping me help you.
In the meantime, I managed to throw in three extra templates; [Template:Spoilers], [Template:Spoilers/doc] and [Template:Second Star Spoilers]. Admittedly, I only wanted the third of those, so the first two got added in due to me mistaking them for necessary requirements. Feel free to remove those first two if you'd like, though that last one is definitely a gift from me to you, seeing as I thought you'd probably want it. I avoided using two [ ]'s so that the templates wouldn't mess up this response.
Huh, for whatever reason, the link isn't working for me. It takes me to a broken page that says "this site can't be reached. zodiac's server IP address could not be found." Maybe something happened while you were typing in the link?
As for the kind gift in return, thank you very much. Though I could hardly call what I've done so far "hard work." I feel as though I've only just begun, and that the more difficult hurdles await me later on. lol
All's forgiven; sometimes these things happen. If Cherrial can help, that would be appreciated. In the meantime, I've been tinkering away with two switch templates so far: [Template:Switch], [Template:Switch/doc] (in hindsight, I'm not sure if this is even necessary now, but I figured it was worth a try,) and [Template:Switch2]. In addition, I needed to add a few more templates to make the switches work, these being [Template:Hide], [Template:Hide/doc], [Template:Toggle] and [Template:Toggle/doc]. Hope all goes well so far, but to be extra sure, I suppose I should cross my fingers. lol
Switch2 by the way, was added for the sake of being open-ended; that way you can use it however you want. Template:Switch is set to anime and manga, just as I found it, in case you had something like that in mind. If not, I'll be willing to rework it to your specifications.
Update: So I'm trying to tackle the colored quotation templates, and the only ones I knew of were from Fairy Tail Fanon. I hope you don't mind me borrowing the coding from there. So far, we have [Template:Quote2] and [Template:Quote2/doc], but for whatever reason, the Phantom Lord and God Eater boxes aren't colored in and I can't seem to figure out the reason why. This is definitely where things seem to be getting trickier and more challenging for me, so here's hoping I can figure out this mystery, otherwise this may be a persistent problem until it's solved.
Well Cherrial is now offically an admin I`m gonna head over to her page to get her to help however she can. However like me, she has some knowledge in coding but I`m unclear on how much coding she truly knows.
Oh, thank you very much, Ash! Any little bit of help will definitely go a long way. In the meanwhile, I'll be problem solving and tinkering here and there as I try to get these templates up and working.
I already have. We now have a functioning weapons infobox, titled Template:Weapon Box. Guess all I have left now is a template for stories, as well as looking into the mystery behind the missing colors used in the quote template.
Come to think of it actually, since you're already using a template for Second Star right now, is that what you'd like to stick with? Or would you want a different one? I have to be honest, it may be more difficult to find an alternate story template on short notice, considering I've been relying on the template you're using now for a while and have become complacent.
Alright then, that's another thing to cross off my check list. Guess I can say I've added all the templates you had asked for now. Though the quote template will still be bothering me until I can get the hang of why two boxes are missing their colors. But aside from that, I guess I'll leave you be for now and let you get back to whatever it is you may be doing in the meantime. Thanks for the help along the way, and the kind gestures as well. :)
